A Study on the "Genealogy of Jesus Christ.," He's the "Seed of Abraham & Isaac."

Part I.  Genealogy of Jesus Christ - The True Seed.

Below I will explain in details Matthew and Luke's "genealogy."

See Matthew 1:1-17 and verses 18-25 and Luke 3:23-38.

To help you understand Matthew's writings on the subject of the genealogy - it is good if you know who were the kings of Jerusalem and Judah starting with king David all the way down through Jechoniah.  You can read the books of 1st and 2nd Chronicles for the information.  Please note:  The kings of Judah and Jerusalem all fall under "One Dynasty" because all were descendants of king David, and all have the same bloodline; all were of the "Tribe of Judah," that's why we say "kings of Judah and Jerusalem."

Ok, lets cut right to the chase.

"Jeconiah," one of king David's descendants was cursed by the Lord.  The Lord cursed him and promised him that none of his sons and/or descendants after him would ever sit on king David's throne.  Keep in mind that king David was their ancestor and all the kings of Judah and Jerusalem after David and before Jeconiah were all Jeconiah's ancestors from the same bloodline.  Now, when Jeconiah had become king of Judah and Jerusalem, the Lord promised Jeconiah that none of his sons and descendants after him would ever sit on king David's throne because of all of his evil ways.  He was sent away as a captive and as a prisoner to Babylon with the rest of Judah and Jerusalem when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon captured and invaded Jerusalem and all of Judah.  The Jews were captive for a period of 70 years in Babylon.  You can read more about Jeconiah, Judah and Jerusalem's history and it's accounts in the Books of 1st and 2nd Kings, 1st and 2nd Chronicles, Jeremiah and Isaiah in the Holy Bible.  When reading the Book of Jeremiah, there you will read about Jeconiah's curse pronounced by the Lord "as one who was to be counted childless," (see Jeremiah 22:24-30).  Please note: just because the Lord cursed Jeconiah, his sons and all their descendants after him, it doesn't mean that Jeconiah wasn't going to have any children, but that none of his sons and/or descendants after him would ever sit on king David's throne.

Lets continue with Matthew's "Genealogy."

Matthew's point in his genealogy was to show not the royal line (though he does shoe it), but to show that Jesus couldn't claim kingship if he was from the same bloodline of Joseph and Jechoniah.  But since he wasn't Joseph's real son (only legal son), than Matthew was saying that Jesus can rightfully proclaim His kingship on king David's throne as King of Judah thru Mary who was also of David's bloodline through Nathan.  Nathan was also king David's son and brother to king Soloman (see 1 Chronicles 3:5).

Joseph was Mary's husband and gave Jesus His name, he was Jesus' legal father.  He wasn't Jesus' real dad; and Matthew was showing that Jesus was really the son of Mary and of God and not of Joseph...He was letting us know that the solultion to the probelm of Jeconiah is resolved in Jesus Christ our Lord -
because under Jeconiah's bloodline and Joseph's bloodline (Joseph was of Jeconiah's bloodline), Jesus wouldn't be able to claimed the thone because he too would have been under the same curse as Jeconiah and his descendants after him if He were of the same bloodline.  But because He wasn't of the same bloodline He can both claim His Kingship as "The Messiah and the King" of Israel (and all the earth) as the One who sits on the throne of His father David as the promised "Seed" by God.

Let's keep looking at Matthew's genealogy.  Notice how Matthew starts the genealogy with saying that Jesus is the Son of David and then the son of Abraham.  Now in this genealogy Matthew mentions all the royal descendants, but before doing that he had to first list the names of those men that were of the same bloodline all the way back to David and Abraham to show that Jesus had to come from Abraham's seed (that is the promised "Seed"), all the way down to Jessie who was the father of king David; and to show that He was also to be King as his father David was.  He would be the rightful King of all Israel (and all the earth).  After Jessie, he then proceeds to list the royal line starting with King David down to Jeconiah; and all the way down to Joseph, then to Jesus (though all those after Jeconiah weren't kings according to the curse).  So all those from Abraham to Jessie (vs 1-5) who were mentioned before David and back to Abraham were of the same bloodline  - but were not kings of Jerusalem and Judah.  They were listed as part of the bloodline to show from where the Seed (Christ) had to come from.  All those listed after Jeconiah down to Jospeh weren't kings either - but were of the same bloodline.  The kinship starts with king David and ends with Jeconiah.  Therefore, all names were listed in the genealogy to show and to trace the Messiah (Christ) back to David and back to Abraham.  Remember that the promised "Seed" was made to Abraham (see Galatians 3:16; and 3:29 we too are of Abraham's seed if we belong to Christ).  So from verses 6 to 11 he continues to list the royal list of people and these were all the kings of Judah and of Jerusalem - from David to Jeconiah.

Once he gets to verse 11 and 12 - there he clearly states something of most importance: "Jeconiah and his brothers at the time of the exile to Babylon," and verse 12 says "After the exile to Babylon."  He then proceeds to continued the genealogy after Jeconiah and his descendants up to Jacob and Joseph, but when he mentions Joseph, he goes on and says "Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.  The reason he mentions Mary is to show that Jesus was her Son, but not of Joseph who was of the bloodline of Jeconiah.  Jesus and Mary were not of Jeconiah's bloodline.  He resolves the problem by showing that Christ can be the Messiah and the King who can claim and sit on king David's throne according to the promises in Isaiah 9:6-7, Luke 1:33 and many other scriptures.  So, that the reader doesn't get confused, he proceeds to tell the story of how Jesus was born from Mary who was the virgen wife of Joseph, the legal father of Jesus.

Now - let's read the Genealogy of Luke.  Luke's list of the genealogy skips no names and he proceeds to give the lineage from king David's son Nathan all the way down to Mary (Joseph is mentioned instead of Mary in Lukes genealogy for a good reason): It is the man's seed that is always mentioned in the genealogies and not that of the woman.  First of all woman don't have seeds (only man), and second of all since woman aren't mentioned in genealogies, Luke writes the husband's name to show Mary's genealogy and not Joseph's.  By doing this - he is really showing that Heli is the father of Mary and not of Joseph.  Having said that - it also means that Luke is showing the bloodline of Mary and not of Joseph.  Tradition has it that even the Jewish Book "Talmud" also states that it's Mary's bloodline and not Joseph's.

Matthew mentions 4 woman & 5 if u count Mary), but Matthew also mentions the four women to show that they were Gentiles and that they were sinful adulterous woman; and to show that Jesus was also bringing salvation to the Gentiles as well as to the Jews and for all those who would believe in His name.

Luke followed Jewish tradition, and in Jewish tradition u don't really mentioned woman in your genealogy (though Matthew did).  But he mentions Joseph instead of Mary to show that it was her bloodline instead of Joseph's.  That way showing the the lineage that Mary came from we can see that she was from king David and Nathan's bloodline; and not through king Soloman...Therefore, Jesus can claimed the throne of king David thru Mary and Nathan because He was of the same bloodline of Mary, God and Nathan and king David's bloodline and not that of Solomon's bloodline.  Therefore, Luke is also showing that Jesus is the Messiah through Nathan's bloodline and that He can claimed the throne of His father king David.  Lets remember that in the scriptures one of the titles that Jesus was given was "Son of David," (see Matthew 9:27 and others).

Note: the other thing we need to know is that in Luke's genealogy when reading the genealogy in the original Greek, we find that before each name you'll find the article written first.  For example "The Luke," The Heli, The Matthat, The Levi & etc." But when you get to Joseph's name - you don't find that it says that - it just shows Joseph.  Luke wrote it like that to show that it was Mary's genealogy and not that of Joseph her husband; and to show that Mary was the daughter of Heli and not Joseph (though Joseph's name is the one mentioned as the son of Heli and not Mary's).

Praise the Lord, thank You Jesus for Your word and for given me the knowledge to understand and accept these things, but mostly, to be able to share with others.  For You say in your word that "the secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law (see Deuteronomy 29:29).  Praise the Lord.

In Matthew we see the "Fourfold Image of the Messianic Person (Jesus).  He's the Jewish God Man King...Two requirements were needed to claimed kingship of the House of David and they are as follows:

1. Had to be from the bloodline of king David, but not through Jeconiah; and
2. Had to have a "Divine Appointment," and Jesus was all of those through Mary, Nathan and God.

In Matthew's genealogy - Jesus is called: The Son of David and the Son of Abraham; and in Luke's genealogy He is called: The Son of Adam and the Son of God.  Therefore, we get the following - and it means that:

1 - As Son of David - He is King;
2 - As Son of Abraham - He is a Jew;
3 - As Son of Adam - He is a man; and
4 - As Son of God - He is God.

Hallelujah!  Praise the Lord...Jesus is the only person who can fulfill the Messianic prophecy and the one who will one day sit on king David's throne (Luke 1:29-33).  That will happened during the "one Thousand Year Millennium."  See Revelation 19 and 20 for that.

Note: in the following verses you can read that Nathan was the son of king David & of Bathsheeba; and he was one of king Soloman's brothers: 2 Samuel 5:14, 1 Chronicles 3:5 and 1 Chronicles 14:4.

Read Genesis 3:15, Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:23 for the "The Seed of the Woman" - that is Christ.

Note:  Below I have put together one other possible teaching on Matthew and Luke's Genealogies.  Read it then you can decide which of the two best shows what is "truth."

Part II.  The Genealogy of Jesus Christ (According to Eusebius)

Why does the Genealogy of Matthew Contradict the Genealogy of Luke?  Well guess what it doesn't.  It may seemed that it does, but it really doesn't.  Let's look at the facts:

In Matthew 1:16 it says "And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. (KJV) - but in Luke 3:23 it says that "Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph, the son of Heli. (NIV).

Matthew says "that Jacob begot Joseph" and Luke says "that Joseph was the son of Heli."  Which one is correct?  After careful researched and prayer - I believe that both of them are correct.  We just need to do some bible research.  Let's see.  To understand these two most complex "Genealogies," we need to carely search out the scriptures.  Pray and ask God to help you understand His word.  Ok, let's continue below:

In Deuteronomy 25:5-10 - it tells us that "If a man's brother dies without a son, his widow must not marry outside the family; instead, her husband's brother must marry her and sleep with her. 6 The first son she bears to him shall be counted as the son of the dead brother, so that his name will not be forgotten. 7 But if the dead man's brother refuses to do his duty in this matter, refusing to marry the widow, then she shall go to the city elders and say to them, 'My husband's brother refuses to let his brother's name continue-he refuses to marry me.' 8 The elders of the city will then summon him and talk it over with him, and if he still refuses, 9 the widow shall walk over to him in the presence of the elders, pull his sandal from his foot and spit in his face. She shall then say, 'This is what happens to a man who refuses to build his brother's house.' 10 And ever afterwards his house shall be referred to as 'the home of the man who had his sandal pulled off!' (TLB)

Some think that Jacob in Matthew's genealogy is the same person as Heli in Luke's genealogy.  Others believe that they are two different persons, but are confused with both genealogies because of the differences in the names given in both of them and in their ancestry.  Personally, I believe that they are two different persons and that both Jacob and Heli are actually brothers from the same mother, but from different fathers; and that both Jacob and Heli are Joseph's fathers.  How can that be, well simple.  Lets read again Deuteronomy 25:5 - the answer is there. If a man's brother dies without a son, his widow must not marry outside the family; instead, her husband's brother must marry her and sleep with her.

Let me explain it below:

1.  Jacob was the biological father of Joseph;
2 - Jacob and Heli were brothers;
3 - Jacob and Heli were brothers by the same mother, but both had different fathers (Matthan was Jacob's father and Matthat was Heli's father);
4 - Jacob and Heli's genealogies are different because of it;
5 - Jacob and Heli's widowed mother married Matthan after her husband Matthat had deceased; and so her new husband Matthan raised their son Jacob as his own.  Keep in mind that the widowed was at liberty to freely remarry again after her husband Matthat died;
6 - Matthew's genealogy gives us natures law - meaning: Jacob begot Joseph (Jacob was Joseph's biological father);
7 - Luke's genealogy gives us Deuteronomy's law - meaning: that Joseph was son of Heli only legally; and stated that when a woman's husband died that she couldn't marry out of the family and so the brother of the deceased (Jacob was the brother of the deceased Heli), had to marry his own sister-in-law (Jacob married his deceased brother Heli's wife), raised seed to his brother Heli by sleeping with her after marrying her.  Note: let me explain what this really means.  Raising seed to his brother means: that Heli had no children with his wife before he died, so, his brother Jacob married his brother Heli's widowed after he died and had a son together with her.  But since the law of Deuteronomy states that the firstborn son born to them would have to carry the name of the mother's deceased husband so that the dead person's name wouldn't be forgotten - then by law - Joseph is recognized to be Heli's son, though Jacob had begotten Joseph; and
8 - So, Heli died without any children and Jacob raised his own son Joseph as if he was his brother Heli's son (seed).  Therefore, Jacob begot Joseph and Joseph was the son of Heli; and so, Heli's name wouldn't be forgotten according to the law of Deuteronomy 25:5-10.

Therefore, both Matthew and Luke's genealogies are both correct and there are no contradictions.  Keep in mind that the writers job was to write exactly what the books already had written in them by the scribes.  They were not to altered or change any part of it.  That explains the difference in the genealogies - both are showing two different bloodlines but both takes us back to king David.  Matthew takes us back to king David through Solomon and Luke takes us back to king David through Nathan.  Both Solomon and Nathan were brothers and both were sons of king David and Bathsheeba (see 2 Samuel 5:14, 1 Chronicle 3:4-5 and 1 Chronicle 14:4.

Hope that wasn't confusing, but there's no other way to reconciled these genealogies.  Both genealogies are Joseph's and none of them are Mary's, the mother of our Lord Jesus.  Therefore, Jesus can claim the throne through Lukes genealogy with no problem at all, and through Matthew because Matthew show's that Jesus wasn't the real son of Joseph; and Jesus didn't have the same blood of Joseph and Jeconiah.  Soon, and very soon Jesus will be sitting on His father David's throne.  This will happened after the rapture takes place first and after His visible return to earth seven years after the rapture.  See Revelation 19 for more on Jesus and His One Thousand Year Millennium as King of Kings and Lord of lords on king David's throne.  We can also read Daniel chapter 9 and parts of  Jeremiah and Isaiah for more on Jesus sitting on the throne of His father David...See also Luke 1:30-33.

Lord Jesus, thank you for allowing me to complete this study.  Praise the Lord.

Note: I also want to thank "Nathan H83 on U-tube for posting his video-clip on this issue.  It was helpful, though I already was familiar with a teaching of this sort.

"Refute all False Doctrines"

“Refute false doctrines and those that say that the word of God is incomplete and/or have another book calling it another gospel as if the bible needed an addition. Let us also refute those that still say that we still need to live by the Old Testament Law. The Scriptures clearly shows us that Christ has set us free from all that – See Romans 6:15-23 & Romans 8:1-4 (you may want to read from Romans chapters 5 and/or 6, 7 and 8); and I’m not saying that we should break the Old Testament Law by sinning, but that we no longer live by the stronghold it had on us before Christ died for us. All I’m saying is that we now live by His Spirit - by the Law of His Spirit – see also 2 Corinthians 3:17 (you may also want to read 2 Corinthians 3:1-18).

The "Law" given to man by angels - but not to Abraham - God by Himself gave Abraham the Gospel
Galatians 3:10-18 & especially, Galatians 3:19-20 (Abraham received the promise by his faith);
Acts 7:30-34; Exodus 3:2; Acts 7:51-53; Galatians 3:19-20.

Jesus said that there was no other Foundation
Matt 7:21-27; 1 Corinthians 3:10-11; Ephesians 2:19-22.

No other Gospel & Living in the Fullness of Christ
Galatians 1:6-9; Galatians 1:11-12 (the gospel revealed to Paul by Christ - this is the highest authority);
Ephesians 4:1-16 (see vs. 11-13); Colossians 1:19-27; (there’s no other gospel; this is the fullness of Christ)

Also read - 1 Corinthians 15 and see vs. 1 & 2 regarding “the gospel” that Paul preached; he says to believe, but we’re not to believe in vain. See vs. 11 – (This was the full gospel preached by Paul and the disciples).

Read 2 John 7-9 – It’s clear; that there can’t be any other teaching or doctrine (no other gospel). And the Book of Ephesians is dedicated to the “Hidden Mystery of Christ.” It’s the Fullness of Christ - Eph 4:11-13 and Colossians 2:9-15

Study God’s Word - 2 Tim 2:15; be prepared to give answers - Colossians 4:2-6 & 1 Peter 3:15-16

The Lord translated Paul to the third heavens – to His very throne – see 2 Corinthians 12:2; Galatians 1:11-12 & Acts 22:17 - Let God be true, and every man a liar – Romans 3:4.

The following scriptures were quoted by Jesus Himself – we don’t need another book to tell us that God’s word is true. The scriptures are transparent and they show us all truth. See: Luke 22:37; Luke 24:44; Heb 10:7 - Ps 40:7 – John 5:39-40-47 – see below re: Luke 24:44

Divisions of the Books of the Old Testament - Divided into 3 Parts – Luke 24:44
If you read Luke 24:44 – the Lord tells us the following:

44 He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms."
(from New International Version)

So what does this all mean? To help us understand the true meaning read what Barnes’ Notes Commentary has to say in the following for Luke 24:44 -

[These are the words] Or this is the "fulfillment" of what I before told you respecting my death. See Luke 18:33; Mark 10:33.

[While I was yet with you] Before my death. While I was with you as a teacher and guide.

[In the law of Moses] The five books of Moses-Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy. Among the Jews this was the first division of the Old Testament, and was called the "law."

[The prophets] This was the second and largest part of the Hebrew Scriptures. It comprehended the books of Joshua, Judges, 1st and 2nd Samuel, 1st and 2nd Kings, which were called the "former prophets;" and Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and the twelve smaller books from Daniel, to Malachi, which were called the "latter prophets."

[The psalms] The word here used probably means what were comprehended under the name of "Hagiographa," or holy writings. This consisted of the Psalms, Proverbs, Job, Song of Solomon, Ruth, Lamentations, Ecclesiastes, Esther, Daniel, Ezra, and Nehemiah, and the two books of Chronicles. This division of the Old Testament was in use long before the time of Christ, and was what he referred to here; and he meant to say that in "each of" these divisions of the Old Testament there were prophecies respecting himself. The "particular" subject before them was his "resurrection from the dead." A most striking prediction of this is contained in Ps 16:9-11. Compare it with Acts 2:24-32; 13:35-37.
(from Barnes' Notes, Electronic Database. Copyright (c) 1997 by Biblesoft)

When reading John 5:45-47 – it shows us that we no longer have a need to live by the Law of the Old Covenant; and Jesus Himself was saying that He was the answer to eternal life. What Jesus was really saying in these verses was that the Law that God had given Moses for all humanity; and given to man through His angels accuses us of being sinners. Why? Because the law was given to man to show man that he was and still is a sinner, and that man indeed is in need of God and a Savior to cleanse him from his sins 1 Timothy 1:9. Of course man would first have to repent and ask God to forgive him of his sins through our Lord Jesus Christ in order to be forgiven of his sins by God in His Son’s name – Acts 4:10-12, Acts 13:38-39 and (Romans 10:9-13). See what Luke wrote in the Book of Acts starting at chapter 3 through 4:10-12. So the law was given for the sinner and not for the righteous. The righteous didn’t need a law. Therefore, the law would condemn all those who would sin. See: Gal 5:18 – it says - that if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.

With that said please read the following: Rom 8:9-11
9 You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.
(from New International Version)

But Jesus gave us the Spirit – which also is Christ. Therefore, we live by the Spirit of Christ – and not by the letter of the law, but by the letter of the Spirit. Christ doesn’t condemn us, but the law does. So if you still attempt to live by the law of God and not by the Letter of His Spirit – then you are still living as a sinner without forgiveness of sins. See: 2 Corinthians 3:12-18 (though I recommend reading the chapter).

Inference: According to God’s word, we have all of our “Fullness in Christ;” and if God’s word was incomplete and or missing any part of the “Gospel,” as some suggest, then Paul would have not written the following; and also remember that Timothy was with Paul when he wrote this letter to the Colossians (Colossians 1:1), and so he serves as a witness and concurs with Paul all that was written in this letter:

Colossians 2:9-15
9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority. 11 In him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.

13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. 15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
(from New International Version)

God bless, and remember - “that Jesus loves you.”

Moses wrote in the Old Testament that "no man can see God and live, "but John in the New Testament wrote that "no one has ever seen God"-Only Jesus!

Ex 33:17-34:9

Ex 33:17-23
17 And the LORD said to Moses, "I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name."
18 Then Moses said, "Now show me your glory."
19 And the LORD said, "I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 20 But," he said, "you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live."
21 Then the LORD said, "There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. 22 When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen."

Exodus 34:1-9
34:1 The LORD said to Moses, "Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. 2 Be ready in the morning, and then come up on Mount Sinai. Present yourself to me there on top of the mountain. 3 No one is to come with you or be seen anywhere on the mountain; not even the flocks and herds may graze in front of the mountain."
4 So Moses chiseled out two stone tablets like the first ones and went up Mount Sinai early in the morning, as the LORD had commanded him; and he carried the two stone tablets in his hands. 5 Then the LORD came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the LORD. 6 And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, 7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation."
8 Moses bowed to the ground at once and worshiped. 9 "O Lord, if I have found favor in your eyes," he said, "then let the Lord go with us. Although this is a stiff-necked people, forgive our wickedness and our sin, and take us as your inheritance."
(from New International Version)

John said that no one has ever seen God

John 1:18
8 No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.
(from New International Version)

Question: Well if that’s so, then why is it that the scriptures say clearly that God spoke to Moses face to face in Exodus 33; not only that - but Moses saw God’s back. The answer is clear: No one can see God in His true form, but He can be seen through His Son Jesus. Remember that the scriptures say in Colossians 1:15 that Jesus is the very image of the invisible God. We were made in God’s image – but Jesus was and is the very image of the invisible God Himself (we’re not the invisible image of God); and therefore, since Jesus is the very image of the invisible God – He is God. That is profound! Hope you can digest this, because there is no other God. This is a profound mystery, but true; though God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Spirit (Holy Spirit) are three different Persons – yet they are all One and the same true Jehovah God; not three gods; and therefore, Jesus can’t be a god – but God – John 1:1 – otherwise; that would contradict Deuteronomy 18:18-20.

Moses couldn’t see His face (God the Father’s face) or he would have died at that very moment; see above scriptures. But what about Abraham? Doesn’t the bible say in Genesis 18 that God appeared to Abraham; and Abraham had a meal prepared for Him and for His two angels; and Abraham washed His feet and had a dialog (conversed with the LORD God Jehovah).

So how is it that the scriptures say in John 1:18 that no one can see God and live, but yet some men saw God and still lived?

The answer is simple: Jehovah is God; Jesus is God; The Holy Spirit is God. Let’s explain by reading Genesis 18 and 19 and remember that the bible doesn’t contradict itself. After reading that with John 1:18 this is how I understand it to be - we have the following:

Jehovah God the Father (no one can see His face and live – only Jesus); Jehovah God the Son (Jesus Christ, the Son of God – He’s the One who died for our sins so that we can have eternal life); and Jehovah God the Spirit (the Holy Spirit – He’s the One that guides us and directs us). Therefore, Jehovah God the Son (Jesus) is the One that Abraham saw. Jehovah God the Father and Jehovah God the Son is One and the same true God with Jehovah God the Spirit. God the Father cannot be God without God the Son and without God the Spirit. The Three Persons of the Trinity equal the One and only Almighty God – and not three, but One God.

Now we can better understand John 1:18. It says that only the Son has declared Him. In other words – what John was really stating here was that the reason why Jesus was able to be the only One to see God (and in His true form) – was because He Himself is also God (He’s God the Son); and He is One and the same with God the Father; otherwise, He could have not seen Him. Jesus is really God. You may one to read Colossians 1:15-18.

Note: If you still cannot understand this consider reading the following: The United States of America. “States” is a plural word and not singular – and one does not say, The United States are going to be the most beautiful country in the world. What we actually say is something more like, "The United States is going to be the most beautiful country in the world” (not "are" going to be - but "is" going to be). Why? Because "one uses a singular verb with a plural noun.” “United States” is the plural noun and “is” is the singular verb.

Well the name of Elohim (Elohim is: God, Jehovah God and/or Yahweh) is plurality in one, and because the sense is singular, it calls for a singular verb. So everyone using it knows that it is plural representing many in unity as one (the three are One, i. e. - Elohim). And so, we look for a singular being, but Elohim is not singular – He is plural.

Take a moment to read Genesis 1:26-27. God says “Let us make man in our image. The words “us” and “our” for this particular verse is both plural and singular. Why? Because He, God Himself is Elohim (Elohim represents all three Persons of the Trinity as one God Almighty); and there is no other (Deuteronomy 4:35 and vs. 39).

Consider again the United States: The United States is one nation with many states in it. When we talk about the United States – we're talking about all the states in the Nation of the United States, not just one state in particular. Well then - when we're talking about God – and Elohim is God - then we're talking about all three Persons of the Trinity as God (because Elohim represents all three Persons of the Trinity); and therefore, all three Persons are included here as One God Almighty in the words “us” and “our.”

God bless - and Jesus loves you!

Who is our Savior, God or Jesus?

I strongly recommend that you take some time and read the Book of Titus in the Holy Bible. As you read along you will notice that in some cases it says that God is our Savior and in other instances it says that Jesus is our Savior. So which One is it, Jesus or God?

The answer to this important question is self explained. Focus on the following verses:

Titus 1:3-4; Titus 2:10-13 and Titus 3:4-6 .

It is clear. Especially Titus 2:13 where it says that God is our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. Paul made it clear when writing to Titus. He tells us that God our Savior is Jesus Christ, our Savior. In other words, Jesus is our God and our Savior - there's no other. So if you are confused - just read the scriptures. Some religions have changed the wording around in order to try to diminish Christ's deity. But no matter how much they try to change the Word of God to suit their own needs - Christ is still Lord and God and He is our great God and Savior as the scriptures indicate in Titus 2:13 and throughout the scriptures.

Praise the Lord. Jesus loves you, and I do too!

Willie

P.S. You may want to read 2 John and 1 Corinthians 15. God is the Lord.

The Promised "Seed" (Christ)

The “Promises” were given to Isaac from whom “Christ” the promised “Seed” came from – Romans 9:6-16 and Hebrews 11:9-19. The following Scriptures “Refute” any other doctrines that are contrary to God’s Word in regards to the Promised Seed, i.e. Christ the Messiah - the Anointed One of God.

It was through Isaac the son of Abraham and Sarah that the promised Seed (Christ) was to come and not through Ishmael, the oldest brother of Isaac who was born of Hagar, the Egyptian concubine (slave girl) of Abraham & Sarah or by any of the other brothers of Ishmael and Isaac which were also sons of Abraham by his concubine wife, Keturah whom he married after Sarah’s death (Genesis 25). In fact the promised "Seed" could not even come from Ishmael, Ishmael's sons and or thru Abraham's other children thru his second wife Keturah who was first his concubine before becoming his wife. Abraham and Keturah had six sons. So all together Abraham had eight children. Ismael, Isaac, and the six from Keturah.

Isaac was not born yet when Abraham met w/Melchizedek. Genesis 14 tells us first of all that his name was still Abram; and in Genesis 15:1-4 God tells Abram that he will have a son from his own body. The Lord later on changed Abram's name to Abraham meaning father of many nations - Genesis 17:5 & God changed Sarai's name to Sarah Genesis 17:15-22 and Romans 4:13-25.

In Genesis 14 Abram met w/Melchizedek and in chapter 15 Abram asked God what will He give him since he had no children and that Eliezer was going to inherit his estate. Eliezer was from Damascus. Abram thought that it was Eliezer that was going to inherit all he had, but God told him not so, that it was going to be his own son from his own body (that was Isaac), which by the way the phrase “his own son from his own body” means that it was from both Abraham & Sarah, his only wife; not with any of his concubines or slave girls (Malachi 2:15). So not even Ishmael would become the heir; it was no one else but Isaac (Genesis 17:15-22).

Isaac was Abraham’s only son by his wife Sarah; and he was Abraham's second son because Ismael was his first son by Hagar the Egyptian slave girl. In Genesis 16 Abram slept with his Egyptian concubine Hagar and had a son by her and named him Ishmael; but it was Isaac that inherited the promises - see Genesis 17:5 & Geneses 17:15-22; Galatians 4:22-31 and Romans 9:6-9-16 (read all of chapter 9). See also Hebrews 11:9-12-19.

Read the scriptures below for a better view and explanation of how the promise of God came to be thru His Son "Jesus the Messiah" the Anointed One of God - the Christ - God's One and only Son - the true Seed and there's no other.

Christ the Seed of promise. Christ was the son of Mary. Mary gives birth, she's a virgin and the promise came thru her (Genesis 3:15 regarding the "Seed" of the woman). So a virgin (Mary) gives birth to the Messiah – It was her Seed, Abraham & Isaac’s “Seed” and not seeds Genesis 3:15, Isaiah 7:14, Luke 1:29-38. Please take note: Since we all know that women can not produce a seed - and that this was only given to men (to be able to produce) - well then, this alone is a miracle in itself. Which by the way makes our Lord Jesus God. Why? Because the Holy Spirit of God came upon Mary and she conceived by Him (Luke 1:26-35 (for more on the Spirit see 2 Corinthians 3:17-18). Jesus didn't have a human biological father. He only had a legal father and his name was Joseph who at the time was engaged to Mary the mother of Jesus. See Matthew 1:16 and Matthew 1:18-25 for more on Joseph, Mary and Jesus's birth; and see the genealogy of Jesus in Matthew 1:1-17 and Luke 3:23-38.

Galatians 3:15-16-29 – Christ the Seed/Offspring of Abraham - not seeds – and the promise was given to Abraham. Romans 9:6-9-16 – Christ is the “Seed/Offspring” of Isaac & Abraham (Isaac was Abraham’s only son by Sarah - the Promise “Seed/Offspring,” & not seeds).

The promises came thru Isaac and Abraham - not by Ishmael (Abraham's oldest son by Hagar – the Egyptian woman and slave girl; and Isaac’s older brother), and/or by those other brothers of Isaac and Ishmael after Abraham’s second wife Keturah. Neither by any of Ishmael’s sons or descendants; and or by any of the descendants of their other brothers from Keturah – (see Genesis 25:1-6-18). These formed many of todays Arab nations from where you have so many of todays Muslims.

The Seed came thru the "Seed" of the Jews (Israel) – not thru the seeds of the Arabs or Muslems. This was the reason why Abraham sent all his sons away with their families from his son Isaac - so that they wouldn't interfere with God's plan or make trouble for Isaac. Abraham knowing all these things sent them all away with gifts. First he sent Ishmael away then all those from his concubine Keturah who later on became his second wife (see Genesis 25).

Hebrews 11:17-19 – So the promises came thru Abraham & Isaac - i.e "Christ the Messiah," the "Seed/Offspring" of God. Galatians 4:28 – and like Isaac - we too are children of the promise. We too are from Abraham's seed thru Jesus Christ (see Galations 3:29; Romans 9:8 and Hebrews 2:16). Therefore, we are Abraham's descendants because we believe.

Final Note: Fix your thoughts on Jesus - Hebrews 2:14. God bless! brother Willie Vargas

Jesus is Lord

Let’s take a look at Deuteronomy 18:20 - It says that a prophet who speaks in Jehovah's name anything that He hasn't commanded him to, or a prophet that speaks in the names of other gods, must be put to death. For those that are Jehovah Witnesses – your bible says the following in John 1:1-2
1 In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god. 2 This one was in [the] beginning with God. (from the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures)

But the Christian bible says the following:

John 1:1-2
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. (from New International Version)

Well I am challenging you in the name of my Lord Jesus Christ to search the following scriptures for yourselves and see if what your bible offers is true or not.

In Deuteronomy 18:20 - It says there clearly that we're not to speak falsely about Jehovah and not to speak in the names of other gods. If Jesus is a god – and not God – wouldn't that make Him another god according to this verse. There’s no way that this can be reconcile and It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. So if we are teaching that Jesus is a god then we are all worthy of the punishment stated in Deuteronomy 18:20.

Either Jesus is Lord or Jesus is a god – but He can't be both. Remember that in the Old Testament the Lord Jehovah there says that He’s a Jealous God and that there can be no other God before Him (See Exodus 20:3) When Christians say that Jesus is Lord - we are saying that He is Yahweh - (same as God or Jehovah God). For us Christians Jesus is the same God of the Old Testament in form of three Persons (different Persons that work in Unity of God, but all three equal the One Almighty God), and it is as follows: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit (not three God’s but One God).
Read what 1 John 5:7-8 says in the following:

1 John 5:7-8
7 For there are three that testify: 8 the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. (from New International Version)

I’ll keep it short for now, but just remember that Jesus died for you and shed His precious blood for you and me and the whole world; most of all - He loves you very much and wants you to get saved as the scriptures say in the following:

Romans 10:9-13
9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile-the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
(from New International Version)

Acts 4:12 tells us that only in the name of Jesus can a person get saved. There is no other name, god or person; but only God the Son (Jesus); it is only in His name - see below:

Acts 4:12
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." NIV

If you accept Jesus then He is your Lord and God (John 20:28); and if not then He’s not. It’s all up to you.

A quick hint for you. The Jehovah God that appeared to Abraham in Genesis 18 - was and is Jehovah God the Son (Jesus). Why do I believe that? Because the scriptures state in Exodus 33:20 that Jehovah God told Moses that no one can see the face of God and live. If you can understand that - than you should also be able to understand that no one can see God and live, unless He appears as a Man as He did to Abraham – that way we can see Him and live. Yes, the Lord can appear to us as He chooses to; after all He is God. And in the Old Testament He appeared to Abraham as a Man and in the New Testament He came to this world as a newborn infant born from a virgin and later became the Man Jesus, the Christ, the Messiah, the King of Israel, Kings of Kings and Lord of Lords (see Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 2:11 and Revelation 19:11-16).

Now that I got your attention, please read below what the prophet Isaiah says about Jesus in Isaiah 9:6:

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this. (from New International Version)

Special Note: I love how the scriptures in Luke 2:11 state the following: Luke 2:11
11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. (from New International Version)

It gives Him three titles: Savior, Christ and Lord.

Therefore, Jesus is Lord, the God of the Old Testament and there is no other. Below I cited a bunch of scriptures to help you out – so read your bible. The following scriptures below say that there is no other God:

Deut 4:35, Deut 4:39, 1 Kings 8:60, Isa 44:8, Isa 45:5, Isa 45:6, Isa 45:14, Isa 45:14, Isa 45:18, Isa 45:22, Isa 46:9, Joel 2:27, Mark 12:32 and Acts 4:12

God bless you!

First of all I want to thank my beloved wife Barbara for creating this blog for me. I now pray and asked my Lord Jesus to give me the wisdom and knowledge to post on this blog all that He instills me to study and write for the edification of the "Body of Christ," (His church).

To all my readers:

I encourage you to read and search any and all studies posted on this blog. When the apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, he told him to do his best to present himself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth - 2 Timothy 2:15 NIV
